Election Day is Tomorrow!

Dear volunteers, friends, and especially my family,

Tomorrow is the day we've been waiting for. November 4th, 2008. Election Day. It's been a long year and a half on the campaign trail, but I would not have made it this far without your support. I'm very proud and can't thank you enough for the countless hours walking parades, driving across the district, and going door-to-door to ensure someone who will represent the People will get elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

September 30 - Barn Rally in Crete

On September, Jason attended and spoke at a barn rally in Crete. He spoke along with three other candidates running for Will County Board: Katrina Deutsche, Bob Howard, and John Anderson. It was Katrina and her family who hosted the rally at their farm which has been in the family for over 150 years, dating back to before the Civil War. The rally primarily addressed concerns about a proposed intermodal facility in Crete. Jason spoke out against the proposed plan and the failure of many elected officials to listen to the concerns of the people of Crete who will be directly and negatively impacted by such a project. About forty people were in attendance at the rally which lasted around two hours. Our thanks go to Katrina and the rest of the Deutsche family for hosting the rally.

September 17 – Will County Farm Bureau Meet the Candidate Night

This Constitution Day, Jason went to the Will County Farm Bureau for their “Meet the Candidate Night”.  Jason talked to bureau members and citizens gathered at the event.  The event went from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm.

September 1 – OPC Powerboat Nationals, Kankakee

Jason went to help support fundraising for the Parks and Recreation services of Kankakee at the OPC Powerboat Nationals on the Kankakee River.  The event went August 30th through September 1st, attracting many onlookers to sit back and enjoy the races and live bands, booths for food and beer, and even a Guitar Hero contest.  Jason volunteered an hour to sit in the dunk tank, which was well attended with pitchers from ages 3 to 30.  Kids of all ages enjoyed Jason’s lively spirits and splashings.

September 1 - Bloomington Labor Day Parade

August 31 – Tri-County Fair, Mendota

August 30 - Concerned Citizens of Crete about Centerpoint's Intermodal Project

August 23- Kankakee Parade

Jason and supporters were also able to make the Kankakee parade starting at noon.  The parade was large and the route was short, but people showed up in numbers along Schuyler Ave to see the marching bands, church groups and candidates.  Jason talked to local business owners, parents and church goers along the route.

August 23 - Hopkin’s Park, Pembroke

Jason and supporter attended the parade at Pembroke.  A large crowd of people from the town were lined up along Main Street waiting to see who was driving through, and the Wallace campaign was second in line.  Even though Debbie Halverston was represented, no other congressional candidate was present.  Jason met a variety of people from the town, including a fellow Iraq Veteran.  The mayor was glad to see another choice for congress was not only being represented at his parade, but also on the ballot.
